Strong Assistance | TEMU New Regulations: All products with batteries listed on the European website must submit CE Battery qualifications!

Recently, many Temu sellers have received a notice from the platform to implement CE Battery control on pure battery and battery containing electronic and electrical products.

Battery products need to complete CE batch qualifications as soon as possible, and non compliant products will be fully removed from the shelves starting from December! That is to say, starting from December, all products with batteries must obtain CE Battery qualification before they can be sold.

Note: The battery qualification is not the same as before, and the two are not interchangeable!

1. What is CE Battery qualification?

CE Battery qualification is a mandatory compliance assessment procedure for battery products entering the EU market, and is part of the new EU battery regulation EU 2023/1542.

CE Battery qualification certification requires battery products to meet specific safety, environmental, and performance standards to ensure their legal circulation in the EU market.

2. What are the controlled products?

Applicable batteries: All types of batteries, including lithium batteries, nickel batteries, lead-acid batteries, button batteries, etc., including batteries built-in or added to the product.

3. What are the CE Battery testing requirements?

Testing requirements: According to EU 2023/1542 regulations, determine the content of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and mercury (Hg) in the submitted battery samples, and test the content of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and mercury (Hg) in the samples; The test results must comply with the restrictions of EU 2023/1542 regulation.

✅ Mercury: Regardless of whether the battery is installed in equipment, light transportation vehicles, or other vehicles, mercury ≤ 0.0005%;

✅ Cadmium: Portable batteries, whether installed on equipment, light transport vehicles or other vehicles, cadmium ≤ 0.002%;

✅ Lead: Starting from August 18, 2024, portable batteries, whether or not combined with devices, must have a lead content of ≤ 0.01%;

2. The restrictions listed in point 1 do not apply to portable zinc air button batteries until August 18, 2028.

4. What are the processing procedures for CE Battery?

Fill out the application form: Provide product related information.

Provide samples: Submit battery samples as required for testing by testing agencies.

Sample testing: The testing agency conducts testing on battery samples in accordance with EU 2023/1542 regulations.

Review and Report: After passing the test, the merchant needs to review the content of the report and upload it to the relevant platform for review.

5. What is the execution time of CE Battery on TEMU platform?

Dear merchants, please note that the execution time for CE Battery control has been clearly defined

♦ Starting from December 8th, pure electric products without CE Battery qualification will be removed from the shelves.

♦ Starting from December 17th, products containing batteries without CE Battery qualification will also be removed from the shelves. Therefore, merchants need to complete the application and upload of relevant qualifications as soon as possible to ensure that their products comply with EU regulations. ‍

6. What are the reasons why CE Battery was rejected by the platform?

The necessary "CE" logo is missing from the battery product information in the physical image. Please supplement and resubmit.; The submitted testing report does not meet the requirements of the EU Battery Regulation for hazardous substances (mercury, cadmium, lead). Please resubmit a complete testing report that meets the requirements.

1. The CE logo with the most questions:

a. If the submitted product is only a built-in battery, the physical image needs to display both the complete product and the built-in battery (requirement: and ensure that it can be clearly identified that the built-in battery is separated from the product. In addition, the built-in battery body should also display complete label information, such as CE certification mark, material, model, Ah, V, Wh, etc.), and labeling is not allowed;

Solution:

b. If the submitted product is a complete machine product, the physical image only needs to display the complete machine product and its label information. (such as product name, model, manufacturer, product description information, CE mark, etc.).

The whole machine was sent for inspection and tested according to battery regulations. The battery was also tested, but the sample information indicated the whole machine.

Solution:

2. The testing items must include mercury, cadmium, and lead, with the following limits:

-Mercury: 0.0005%

-Cadmium: 0.002%

-Lead: 0.01%
