Strong Assistance | Mandatory National Standard GB 28489-2022 "Limits of Hazardous Substances in Musical Instruments" has been implemented

On December 29, 2022, the State Administration for Market Regulation (State Standardization Administration) approved the release of GB 28489-2022 "Limits of Hazardous Substances in Musical Instruments", replacing GB/T 28489-2012. The new standard will be implemented on January 1, 2024. All relevant units need to actively pay attention to the content of the new standards to ensure that the products meet the requirements of the national standards.


     

The new mandatory standards classify musical instruments, instrument accessories, and instrument packaging placed indoors into two categories:

Class A: Instruments and instrument accessories that come into direct contact with the oral cavity of the performer under normal usage conditions;

Class B: Instruments, instrument accessories, and instrument packaging placed indoors that are not directly in contact with the oral cavity but are accessible to the human body under normal use.
